For so many reasons Lupita, has us in awe. From the minute I saw her on the screen in 12 Years A Slave, I was in awe. Her poise, style, grace, and sheer talent have captivated us all. She is the total package, with a style team that slays… every time. It seems like every shade of the rainbow just radiates against her skin. And somehow, she has the most versatile TWA on the face of the planet. (I honestly don’t remember my TWA being that versatile.) Here are some quick tips to spice up your TWA like Lupita Nyong’o:

Mold Your Hair Like Clay

One of the most unique characteristics of kinky hair is its ability to transform into whatever shape you’d like. Whether you want a bouffant or a round fro, play with the shape of your hair. Even if your hair is not shaped into a specific cut, you can pack certain sections of your hair in and stretch other sections out. This is a great tip even for those with long hair. You can fake an inverted bob or bang without the commitment.

Use Hair Products To Get the Look You Love

Different products, impart different results. Waxier products provide more hold. Oils impart shine. Leave-ins provide moisture. Think about the looks you would like to achieve and add the appropriate products to your arsenal.

Invest in A Good Haircut

Too often, when women go natural, they are afraid to cut their hair. But whether your hair is short or long, a good haircut is the best foundation. With a chic haircut, you will get more chic looks– as opposed to “Grandma looks”. Your hair will lay better, have more movement, and curls/kinks more vibrant. To get a different look, change the shape of the cut. As Lupita has shown, minor tweaks make a major difference.

Make Some Minor Changes

Speaking of minor changes, it’s surprising how playing with texture or changing a part can result in a drastically different look. We saw it with Lupita, this award season, as she played with texture: blowouts, straight hair, twistouts, and more.
